American Masters programs emphasize practical application alongside theory, with many including internship components, capstone projects, and industry partnerships.

PhD Programs with Funding
Fully funded doctoral programs at America's top research universities
Fully funded PhD with teaching/research assistantships at top research universities.
PhD programs in the United States are among the best funded in the world. Unlike most countries, American universities routinely provide full tuition waivers and living stipends to PhD students through teaching assistantships (TA), research assistantships (RA), and fellowships. For Nepali students with strong academic backgrounds and research interests, a funded PhD in America is essentially free education plus a salary. The US produces more Nobel laureates, patents, and published research than any other country, and PhD graduates enter careers in academia, industry R&D, startups, and government research labs.
- Full tuition waiver + monthly stipend of $1,800-3,000 at most funded programs
- Duration: 4-6 years (Masters + PhD combined at many universities)
- Health insurance typically included with assistantship
- Teaching and research assistantships provide professional experience
- Access to world-class laboratories, equipment, and research funding
- Post-PhD: OPT work authorization, academic positions, or industry R&D careers
Community College Pathway
The smart, affordable path to a top American university
2+2 transfer pathway. Start affordable, finish at a top university.
Community colleges are America's best-kept secret for international students. The 2+2 pathway — two years at an affordable community college followed by transfer to a four-year university — saves Nepali students $30,000-80,000 compared to attending a university for all four years. Many community colleges have guaranteed transfer agreements (TAG/TAA) with top state universities, meaning strong students can transfer to prestigious institutions like UC Berkeley, UCLA, or University of Michigan. Community colleges offer smaller class sizes, personal attention, and a gentler transition to the American education system.
- Tuition of $8,000-15,000/year — 50-70% cheaper than university
- Guaranteed transfer agreements with top state universities
- Smaller class sizes (20-30 students vs. 200+ at universities)
- No SAT/ACT required for admission
- Lower English proficiency requirements (TOEFL 61+ or IELTS 5.5+)
- Associate degree after 2 years (valuable credential on its own)
OPT & STEM OPT
Work in America for 1-3 years after graduation
1-3 years post-study work authorization. STEM graduates get 3 full years.
Optional Practical Training (OPT) is the post-graduation work authorization that makes studying in the US uniquely valuable. All F-1 students receive 12 months of OPT, and STEM degree holders receive an additional 24-month extension — totaling 36 months (3 years) of authorized employment in the United States. This is the longest post-study work period offered by any major study destination, giving graduates ample time to gain professional experience, build their careers, and potentially transition to H-1B work visas or other immigration pathways.
- 12 months standard OPT for all F-1 graduates
- Additional 24 months STEM OPT extension for STEM degree holders (total 3 years)
- Work for any US employer in a field related to your degree
- No employer sponsorship required during OPT period
- STEM OPT employer must participate in E-Verify program
- Pathway to H-1B visa and potential permanent residency
